The Jamuna Railway Bridge : Strengthening Bangladesh's Rail Network and Regional Connectivity

The Jamuna Railway Bridge is a landmark infrastructure achievement for Bangladesh, officially inaugurated and fully operational since March 18, 2025. This dedicated dual-gauge, double-track railway bridge spans *4.8 kilometers across the mighty Jamuna River, located approximately *300 meters upstream and parallel to the existing Jamuna Bridge. Connecting Sirajganj and Tangail, this vital link is set to revolutionize rail communication between the capital, Dhaka, and the country's northern and western regions. With a comprehensive investment of approximately BDT *16,781 crore, the bridge not only significantly reduces travel time and enhances safety but also acts as a crucial conduit for domestic and regional trade, strengthening Bangladesh's position within the Trans-Asian Railway Network.
