Shaheed Wasim Akram Elevated Expressway: Lalkhan Bazar to Airport - Only 15 Minutes

The Chattogram Elevated Expressway Project (Lalkhan Bazar to Shah Amanat International Airport), officially named the Shaheed Wasim Akram Elevated Expressway, is transforming urban mobility and trade connectivity in Bangladesh’s port city. By providing a direct link between Lalkhan Bazar and Patenga, the expressway has cut travel time from over an hour to just 15–20 minutes, ensuring smooth access to Shah Amanat International Airport and Chattogram Port. The project enhances logistics efficiency, supports industrial expansion in Patenga and Anwara, and reduces congestion and vehicle emissions across the city. Together with the Karnaphuli Tunnel and Bay Terminal, it solidifies Chattogram’s position as Bangladesh’s leading commercial and logistics hub.
