Dhaka's Gandharbpur Water Treatment Plant Construction Sets to Supply 500 million Liters of Water Daily
The Gandharbpur Water Treatment Plant under the Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply Project (DESWSP) is a major initiative to ensure safe and reliable drinking water for Dhaka, one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. With a capacity to treat *500 million liters of water per day, the plant will help reduce water shortages, improve public health by providing clean water, and lessen the over-reliance on groundwater, which has been causing environmental stress. In addition, the project will support sustainable urban development, create employment opportunities during construction and operation, and enhance resilience against waterborne diseases, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable living environment for Dhaka’s residents.
