Padma Water Treatment Plant Phase 1 Begins Delivering Safe Drinking Water to Millions in Dhaka
The Padma Water Treatment Plant (Phase I), located in Jahlia Munshiganj, was inaugurated to provide a sustainable solution to Dhaka’s growing water demand. With a designed capacity of 450 million liters per day, the plant ensures a reliable supply of safe drinking water, significantly improving public health and reducing dependency on groundwater. The project also strengthens the city’s water distribution network, supporting urban growth and alleviating water scarcity in densely populated areas. The plant began operations on October *10, 2019, providing treated water to Dhaka city for the first time. Beyond meeting immediate water needs, the plant contributes to long-term environmental sustainability and enhances the quality of life for millions of residents in Dhaka.
