Payra Deep Sea Port: Payra Port Development Project Gains Momentum with New Terminals and Dredging Works
The Payra Port, located at the mouth of the Rabnabad Channel in Patuakhali District, Bangladesh, was originally conceived as a “deep sea port” capable of accommodating large ocean-going vessels and thereby significantly expanding the country’s maritime trade infrastructure. It serves as a strategic gateway for the southwestern region of Bangladesh, aiming to reduce congestion at Chittagong and Mongla ports. The port’s development has also catalyzed regional industrial growth, improving logistics, trade, and employment opportunities for local communities.
